About Our Podcast

Doctor Lynn Varela, Ph.D., LMHC and her partner in crime, John Boswell, MSW, LCSW have a combined nearly twenty years of experience as mental health therapists.

John specializes in treating relationship, familial and romantic trauma including helping victims of narcissistic abuse. Lynn specializes in treating Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD) and personality disorders; primarily Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). Both have been extensively trained in EMDR.

Dr. Lynn Varela

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with a Master's in Counseling Psychology from Palm Beach Atlantic University and a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Walden University.

As an EMDR-certified therapist, I have worked extensively with clients to process their trauma in the form of abuse, neglect, sexual assault, family dysfunction, and/or abandonment. I am a certified clinical trauma professional level II. I have treated clients diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder for over a decade.

My greatest reward as a therapist is helping my clients explore ways to make the changes in their lives that will allow them to look forward to the future with hope. I believe that we all need someone to talk with who will really listen and accept us as we are, without judgment.

I have worked with over 400 individuals since 2011 in my private practice.

John Boswell, LCSW

John Boswell is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from Barry University. His training includes Batterers Intervention, Anger Management, trauma treatment, EMDR, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).

His professional experience includes helping people find relief from stress and anxiety, depression, substance use, PTSD & trauma, stress related to medical diagnosis, grief, and life transitions. He has provided treatment in schools, homes, medical clinics, substance abuse & detox facilities, and onsite at his own private practice. He is proficient in administering individual, family, and group counseling.
